Superhero Birthday party

We attended our dear friends Chuck and Jenny's dear sweet boys birthday party. It was a superhero theme at a gymnastics place and man it was a lot of fun. There was so much to do and our friend Jenny has such a great eye for all the details. It started when we got there with Sam getting a pink superhero cape (that she refused to wear until we got home) on to all the fun gymnastics stations, to a face painter to amazing food and cupcakes, then on to the party bags (including a spiderman ice pack). Will and Adam turned 5 and 3 respectively.

Sam getting warmed up on the obstacle course..She ran around so much she was exhausted when we left.

By the end of it Sam did the swing on a rope thing and drop into a pool of sponges. I was so proud of her.She did it with a little help from DAddy.

Family picture at the end of the party. Sam just wants to go play some more which explains why she is not cooperating in the picture.
As soon as we walked in the door at home Sam put the cape on and ran around the house. She loves the cape.
It was a super fun party and so glad we were able to be a part of it.

Alex's Baptism

Yes I am yet again playing catch up. I am not sure I will ever be truly caught up but I sure am trying.

Back in late March we had Alex's baptism at Dan's folks church (same place we had Sam's baptism) It was a beautiful day and Alex was a total trooper. It turned out to be a pretty cold day but we enjoyed it all none the less.

Also in the middle of the sermon the pastor came to a very good point and paused and Alex was playing peek-a-boo with her Aunt Steph and let out a big giggle and that drew a huge laugh from the crowd and a shout out from the pastor. Pretty cute.

Here are a few pictures from it.

We had a gorgeous lunch after church at my inlaws. Thanks guys for letting us have that at your house...

Alex's 6 month stats.

In March Alex turned 6 months. Here are her statistics:

Weight 19lbs and 3 oz 97%
Height 27.5 100%
Head 17.3 90-95%

Doctors notes on report card: TALL GIRL!!!

So far we think Alex is much more slender then Sam was at this age and definitely pretty darn tall....She does have a few rolls on her legs and she started eating baby pureed food and loves it...

Kendall's First Birthday

So a few weeks ago we celebrated Kendall's St Patricks Day birthday with a fun party with the family at her house. The theme was Owls and it was a hoooot...hahahah

Here I am with Alex and G G. All the girls were in pink...LOVE IT!! Sam as usual was not wanting to participate in a picture...Silly girl...

Sam getting a turn at trying to hit the pinata...So not into it until a few pieces of candy fell out then Aly and Sam got really into it...

Alex and Kendall (the younger cousins) hanging out and getting to know each other. Kendall loves to touch her and hug on her..So cute.... Alex wasn't quite sitting up on her own at this point..

Kendall getting her first piece of cake ever and she LOVED it....particularly the frosting and thoroughly enjoyed wiping it all in her hair...Cutest thing ever...

Getting Ready for Kendalls Birthday party

So in March we celebrated Kendall (our gorgeous 2nd niece) 1st birthday (Another post to follow)...

I took some pictures of the girls that morning as we were getting ready and thought I would share how that experience went... hahahah enjoy

Sam: Mom I was really enjoying just relaxing watching Toy Story why are you putting Alex in my spot??? Mooooom she is touching me....

Me: It will be fine let me get a quick picture....

Alex: Aha I can touch that pink shirt finally..Thanks mom for putting me right next to Sam..
SAm: MOOOOM She is touching me!!!

Me : thinking to myself (oh I bet I hear this a lot over the next several years).

Alex: hahahah Good job Mom on putting me as close to Sam as possible..I love grabbing her hair and her shirt.....Anything to annoy her!!

Alex: Well since Sam didn't want me touching her I am going to hang out over here for a bit... and well darn just look super cute while doing it...

Sam: Seriously Mom did you just put her back over here next to me to annoy the pants off me... Because it is working....

Alex: Ahaaaa I got the shirt again...Now lets see how hard I can tug on this...Wow getting pretty strong as I got that shirt almost pulled off her shoulder...

Okay so fine I quit messing with them and jumped in between and Sam wanted to take a picture of us....Love those self portraits and I actually liked this one so thought I would post it..

Sneak Peek of Sam's Recital Costume

As everyone knows Sam loves to dress up..The Girlier the better... So when we got her costume for her dance recital in May she was so excited. However the costume is very delicate so they were not allowed to play with it until after the recital but they were allowed to try them on to make sure everything fit. Well Sam wanted to leave it on all day..She got 15 minutes and not a second more... As it was we lost a few feathers in those minutes but it was worth it to see her face. Here is a sneak peak of her in the costume...

Sam's 2nd haircut

Well a few weeks ago I noticed Sam's hair looking a tad V-shaped in the back and all scraggly. We are still letting her hair grow and fill in and have only cut it one other time when she was about 2 and a few months....So getting a haircut is a big deal for her. I wanted to make it fun Mommy and Sam time..So we were going to go one Saturday afternoon but she actually fell asleep during quiet time and took a long nap and didn't get up until 3:30 so we ran out the door around 4 and went to our little place we had been to last time and well wouldn't you know it they were not taking any more appointments for the day they closed at 5...well darn..I thought no biggie we will go tomorrow. Well Sam didn't like that answer since I had been talking about this hair cut all day...So off we went searching for another place. We tried looking for another place someone thought they saw...no dice couldn't find it...Also went looking for another new one but they weren't open for business yet. So on our way back to the Tollway I thought what the heck I will run in the place I got a haircut last time to see if they would do it...Again mind you it is 5 something on a Saturday evening..No dice no appts..One more place (our friend Kathryn (Sophie's mom)) told us about..We raced down there and luckily they were open until 6 and had plenty of appts. We waited while a family of 3 kids went before us and then Sam hoped into the chair like a pro..It was a kid friendly place but not over kiddie and they had a tv with Dora playing so Sam was a tad nervous at first then settled right in when she saw Dora..She loved getting her hair wetted down then trimmed, stayed really still, then got her hair blow dried with a big round brush (totally unnecessary but she liked it). then a lollipop and a necklace to top off the experience....All in all we might try that place again as she seemed to like it better (not as crazy) and it was $4 cheaper so I am all about saving money....

Here are a few pictures from that fun bonding time with Sam..... Heaven help us we were getting her hair cut that day (I was picturing it coming down to Mommy trimming it herself as Sam had her heart set on a haircut)...

Sam playing with the train set waiting for her haircut....Choooo chooooo!

Sams hair nice and wet getting cut...See she is so watching Dora..Not even paying attention to her Mommy trying to get her to look at the camera...

Here she is getting her hair blown out with a big round brush...Seriously her hair does not need that...It flips under perfectly on its own....
